Conformal Nature of the Hawking Radiation

چکیده
String theory usually represents quantum black holes as systems whose statistical mechanics reproduces Hawking’s thermodynamics in a very satisfactory way. Complicated brane theoretical models are worked out, as quantum versions of Supergravity solutions. These models are then assumed to be in thermal equilibrium: this is a little cheating, because one is looking for an explanation of the seeming thermodynamical nature of black holes, so these cannot be assumed to be finite temperature systems! In the model presented here, the black body spectrum arises with no statistical hypothesis as an approximation of the unitary evolution of microscopic black holes, which are always described by a 1 + 1 conformal field theory, characterized by some Virasoro Vir or Vir ⊕ Vir algebra. At the end, one can state that the Hawking-thermodynamics of the system is a by-product of the algebraic Vir ⊕ Vir-symmetric nature of the event horizon. This is the central result of the present work.

Hawking Radiation, Gravitational Anomaly and Conformal Symmetry - the Origin of Universality
Hawking radiation is the most prominent quantum effect to arise for quantum fields in a background space-time with an event horizon, and if we neglect the grey body factor induced by the effect of the scattering outside the horizon, the flux of the radiation is universally determined by the properties of black holes at the horizon. We will explain that this universality can be understood in ter...
متن کاملHawking Radiation in Trace Anomaly Free Frames
We have used the results of renormalization of a two-dimensional quantum stress tensor to develop a conformally invariant dynamical model. The model requires the consideration of those conformal frames in which there exists a correspondence between the trace anomaly and a cosmological constant. We apply this model to a two dimensionalSchwarzschild (-de Sitter) spacetime to show that in these co...
متن کاملHorizon state, Hawking radiation, and boundary Liouville model.
We demonstrate that the near-horizon physics, the Hawking radiation, and the reflection off the radial potential barrier can be understood entirely within a conformal field theory picture in terms of one- and two-point functions in the boundary Liouville theory. An important element in this demonstration is the notion of horizon state, the Hawking radiation being interpreted as a result of the ...
متن کاملModification of Gravitational Anomaly Method in Hawking Radiation
We argue an ambiguity of the derivation of the Hawking radiation through the gravitational anomaly method and propose modifications of this method such that it reproduces the correct thermal fluxes. In this modified gravitational anomaly method, we employ the two dimensional conformal field theory technique. [email protected]
متن کاملFluxes of Higher-spin Currents and Hawking Radiations from Charged Black Holes
This is an extended version of the previous paper (hep-th/0701272). Quantum fields near horizons can be described in terms of an infinite set of two-dimensional conformal fields. We first generalize the method of Christensen and Fulling to charged black holes to derive fluxes of energy and charge. These fluxes can be obtained by employing a conformal field theory technique. We then apply this t...
